Week Five (Tanzania)

There is only one word for this country, beautiful. The people are friendly, helpful and very nice to interact with, we have met some really nice people in Tanzania. The country is very clean as in really clean, it is by exception that you will see a bit of rubbish lying around.

We started our entry into Tanzania by driving the A7 to Dar es Salaam, this is the road that is used to transport all the goods by truck. What an experience, just over 700km took us two days to drive.

Dar es Salaam is a big city, we decided not to see it by ourselves but rather get someone to show the city to us. This was a very nice experience and we would not have seen half of the place if it was not for Eric and his sister.

From Dar es Salaam we went north to Kilimanjaro and spent one evening on the south side and one evening on the west side of the mountain. We were unable to see the mountain due to clouds, but it was still very nice.

In Arusha, our half way point and 9000 km after we left home was it time to service the Defender, and get info on how to self-drive Ngorogoro and Serengeti.

We are ending this report in a town called Karatu, 19km from the Ngorogoro gate.

PS: There is nothing wrong with the dog in the road, he just walked into the road and lied down to scratch his back. The cars stopped for him to finish, we found it funny.
