Week One (Namibia, Botswana)

We left home on Tuesday morning and headed straight for the Namibian border, about a seven-hour drive. We spent the night at a campsite on the border. On Wednesday morning we went through the border and started the boring road to Mariental, where we turned right onto the dirt roads that lead to Namibian Kalahari.

We spend the night camping at Gochas and entered the dunes the Thursday morning, what a beautiful place. We followed the GPS through farmers farms to get to Unions End on the Namibian side. Unions End is a very remote place where Botswana, Namibia and South Africa meet. The beacon is in the Kgalagadi National Park and a fence separate it from Namibia. I have always wanted to take a photo from the Namibian side of this place. Got the photo and drove through the Namibian Kalahari to Gobabis where we spent our second night in Namibia.

We crossed into Botswana via Buitepos and drove until Sehithwa, where we spent the night camping in a backyard of a lodge in town. We spent three nights in Maun, Botswana visiting Moremi National Park, took a helicopter drive over the Okavango Delta, and dined in some local food.
